Compassion for all living things is the hallmark of Robbi’s life work. Besides serving as vice president of culture for Hursthouse, Robbi has worked for 25 years as a horticultural therapist—21 running the garden play program at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

An avid equestrienne, backpacker, and rock climber, Robbi has always connected with animals, nature, and people, especially those with special needs. After earning a BS in plant and soil science with a specialization in landscape design at Southern Illinois University (where she met Bob), Robbi became a registered horticultural therapist and started her own business, Accessible Gardens, with the goal of making gardening possible for everyone. Her program at Children’s has won multiple awards and was included in the book Healing Gardens by Clare Cooper Marcus.

At Hursthouse, Robbi fosters positive performance development for all team members. From organizing culturally sensitive team building to masterminding the company picnic, Robbi ensures that every action supports the company’s vision: putting people first.
