“Our house was brand new when Hursthouse started working with us, so it was pretty much a blank slate. We wanted a grassy back yard area where our kids could play, an adult area with some kind of patio, and ground cover and perennials for color. We also wanted to soften the appearance of the house, which is vertical with pillars and on top of a hill.
“Bob came up with creative ideas—to completely regrade the front yard and add the stone wall, which helps the house blend in and adds great dimension. In the back he built the bluestone and brick patio, and suggested putting the swingset off to one side. He created the playhouse which our children truly love, and it’s also a unique part of the landscape. The plants and bigger trees give us year-round coverage and make the house look more established.
“It all fits perfectly with our lifestyle, and achieves just what we wanted. The kids practically live in the play areas, and we entertain friends and family on the patio. We especially love the stone wall—it really matches the feeling of the house, and we get lots of compliments on it from people passing by.”
